FAQs

When will I receive my flowers?

Bouquets will be delivered on either Wednesday or Thursday for weekly and biweekly subscriptions. Monthly subscriptions will be delivered the second week of the month on Thursdays. The start date of the subscription term will be announced closer to the season for which it was purchased. Reason being, like any farmer, I am governed by Mother Nature (she decides when the flowers bloom after all!) Subscribers will receive clear instructions about their start date and subsequent deliveries primarily via email - please be sure to provide your correct email address at checkout.

What areas do you deliver to?

Delivery fees are included in the price of all subscriptions. For individual bouquets or buckets of blooms we deliver to areas within Madison County for free as well as some surrounding counties for a delivery fee (amount determined at checkout). Surrounding counties include: Hancock, Hamilton, Henry and Shelby. Other areas are possible for an additional fee, just shoot us an email to dirtandlaceflowerco@gmail.com

How do deliveries work?

Bouquets are assembled the morning of your delivery day and once completed, I begin making deliveries. A vase will be provided with the first delivery of your session, but for future deliveries you will need to leave a container (bucket, vase, jar, etc) of water on your porch or near your door for us to drop your bouquet into. If it will be waiting outside for a couple of hours before you are home, please place your container in an area of shade, if possible. Please communicate with us where you would like it dropped off if it will not be obvious by the door.

What if I go on vacation?

If you are going on vacation, as many do, we ask that you arrange for someone else to receive your blooms while you're away. Perhaps a pet sitter or family friend would enjoy your bouquet that week! We will also allow for one delivery change per season. The address must remain the same, but you can request delivery during a different week or to double-up on bouquets during another week. If you already know of more than one conflict, just contact us before your subscription begins so that we may plan for it.

Can you take special requests?

Our subscription bouquets are always grower’s choice. You won't know exactly which flowers you'll get, but that's half the fun! It will be a beautiful mix of whatever is currently blooming on the farm! Due to logistics, we are unable to take special requests for our subscription bouquets. If you have a special request, you may contact us about a separate flower order. We may be able to provide specific flowers for special events or other requests.

Do you offer subscriptions for businesses?

Yes! Any of our subscriptions would be good fit to display in your business or office! We can provide subscription bouquets to you prearranged and ready to drop in a vase or we can provide a mixed bucket of flowers for you to DIY.

How long will my flowers last?

Flowers are a perishable product with variable vase lives. Dahlias are magical in part because they’re here for such a short time, usually just 3-5 days in a vase whereas ranunculus and lisianthus on the other hand typically have a 10-14 day vase life. How you care for them affects their lifespan, too. You will be provided with a “Flower Care Tips” info card upon your first delivery but you can also refer to the next question!

How do I take care of my flowers?

Don’t leave them out of water for an extended period. For longest vase life: use a clean vase with clean water (if you wouldn’t drink it, your flowers won’t either!), change the water every several days and snip the ends of each stem to help them re-hydrate. Keep in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and hot or cool drafts.

Can I give a subscription as a gift?

Absolutely! We’ll gather your recipients info at checkout! A gift certificate will be mailed to your recipient or yourself if you prefer to give it to them directly.
